CLUE UP ON COMPOST WITH FOCUS DIY

As the weather improves and gardeners up and down the country busily tend to their gardens, FOCUS DIY is stocking up the shelves with its new compost range to help you find the right product for all your needs.

Focus on the Environment
The importance of looking after the environment is at an all time high, and FOCUS DIY is encouraging gardeners to continue to set a positive example. By taking garden waste to a local recycling centre, or recycling it through a doorstep collection service for it to be turned into compost, gardeners are saving valuable space in landfill. The more green waste that is used in compost, the less peat from precious peatlands is required.

Peatlands are vital sources of nutrients for many plants and provide a home for unique species of butterflies, insects and birds, whose existence depends on commitment to conserving these delicate habitats.

FOCUS DIY is proud to be leading the way for retailers of compost, with 56% of its compost range being free of peat. It offers an excellent choice of reduced peat and peat-free composts and customers can be assured that none of the products available contain 100% peat.

FOCUS DIY's composts consist of several ingredients including composted bark, wood, manure and recycled green material. FOCUS DIY is dedicated to protecting the environment and has committed to annually reducing the percentage of peat used in its compost products, in a bid to meet the Government's target of 90% peat-free growing material by 2010.

FOCUS DIY's Peat-Free Multi Purpose Compost is made up of 50% green waste.
60 litre bag, £3.99.

How Does Your Garden Grow
Pretty flowering bedding plants are perfect for filling garden beds and borders, and when cared for properly they can continue to bloom until the first signs of winter frosts.

To provide delicate plants with the best start to the year and to ensure that they perform consistently well throughout the summer months, plant them in pockets of soil with a handful of FOCUS DIY's Multi Purpose Compost, which contains nutrients and holds plenty of water. Mix in some more of the compost with the soil used to fill in the hole and water each plant thoroughly.

FOCUS DIY's Multi Purpose Compost is 40% peat free and contains 20% green waste.
60 litre bag, £3.99.
