Our simple to use tiling calculator should help you avoid such DIY nightmares. However, if you are using border or decorative inserts, you will need to take your calculation a stage further.

How to use the calculator
Enter the area you wish to cover in the area field, then click Calculate. It will automatically tell you the number of tiles you'll need in each tile size box.

For example, 1 square metre calculates automatically that you will need 100, 4 x 4 (100mm x 100mm) tiles or, 50, 8 x 4 tiles, etc.

Adhesive and Grout Calculator

The box below automatically calculates the amount of adhesive or grout you will need by the size of tiles used. It also tells you how much grout you need depending on the type of tile you're using.

For example, 1 square metre in the tile size box has calculated that you need:

1.1 litres of wall tile adhesive and 0.2 litres of wall tile grout for your 100mm x 100mm wall tiles. Look out for a similar treatment for floor tiles.
